The Grid is a partnership between the UM Ventures and the University of Maryland School of Graduate Studies providing entrepreneurial support to students such as partnerships, workshops, mentoring, pitch development, coaching, funding, and career services. Its annual event, Grid Pitch, offers students the opportunity to pitch their innovative business ideas to a panel of experts and investors in the entrepreneurial community.
The Maryland Launch Fund is tailored for students, employees, and ventures linked to USM institutions, which are these universities and regional higher education centers across Maryland. The program provides flexible early capital, in the form of awards/grants, to for-profit and non-profit ventures designed to bridge foundational gaps.
What I really liked about this program was the practical knowledge that allowed me to slowly build and change my ideas over the course of the program while also providing me with the foundational knowledge I needed. I feel well equipped to continue to pursue my vision, and I believe that with a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, I can see that vision come to life.
