PALLA: Leading the Way in Physician Assistant Education

We continue to elevate our physician assistant education to meet the highest standards through our partnership with PALLA, the Physician Assistant Leadership and Learning Academy. Centrally located at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, PALLA provides professional development for faculty who are educating the next generation of PA professionals. Through the PALLA Faculty Fellowship, UMB Graduate School’s PA faculty have access to education, research, and policy training, as well as a growing network of peer mentors and advocates.

LEADING BY EXAMPLE

PALLA Fellows have shaped everything from longitudinal telehealth curricula that expanded health care access to the underserved regions in Maryland to leading communication trainings that teach skills for communicating when the stakes are high, opinions vary, and emotions run strong.

BECOME A FACULTY FELLOW

PALLA is actively recruiting individuals interested in pursuing a career as a physician assistant academic in higher education. Practicing PAs engage in a 10-month, structured, professional development training program in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service.

Become a PALLA Faculty Fellow

DEVELOP AS A PRECEPTOR

The Healthcare Leadership and Preceptor Advancement (HELP-PA) Fellowship is open to clinicians interested in advancing their skills in healthcare leadership and clinical education as preceptors. This program is an opportunity for practicing PAs, NPs, and MDs/DOs to engage in a 4-month professional development program.

The SAFE Center for Human Trafficking Survivors

The University of Maryland SUPPORT, ADVOCACY, FREEDOM, AND EMPOWERMENT (SAFE) Center for Human Trafficking Survivors provides survivor-centered and trauma-informed services that empower trafficking survivors to heal and reclaim their lives. The SAFE Center aims to prevent trafficking and better serve survivors through research and policy advocacy.

The SAFE Center is an initiative of the University of Maryland, Baltimore and the University of Maryland, College Park through the MPower Program and led by a member of the UMB Graduate School leadership team, Ambassador Susan Esserman.
