Bio

Yves Sanou, MD, is an experienced military trauma surgeon from Burkina Faso Dr. Sanou completed his medical degree at l’Unite de Formation et de Recherches en Sciences de la Sante in Ouagaougou, Burkina Faso Dr. Sanou completed his surgical training from University of Rouen and Amiens in Ouagaougou, Burkina Faso Dr. Sanou completed a hepatobiliary fellowship in Paris, France 

Dr. Sanou splits his clinical time between the military hospital in Burkina Faso’s capital, Ouagadougou (Captain Hallassane Coulibaly Military Hospital) and a public tertiary teaching hospital, Centre Hospitalier Universitaire (CHU) Yalgado Dr. Sanou teaches surgical residents and mentors many medical students theses and resident dissertations 

Dr. Sanou has traveled internationally to speak about trauma care and surgery in low-resource settings; he is truly a world expert Alongside Dr. Shailvi Gupta and Dr. Hannah Wild, Dr. Sanou received the President’s Global Impact Fund from the UMB Center for Global Engagement to help build trauma capacity in Burkina Faso Given his vast experience in trauma care in low-resource settings, Dr. Sanou will serve as a Co-Course Director for TRMA 704, “Global Surgery and Humanitarian Emergencies” in the Masters in Trauma Sciences.
