Mira Ghneim

Bio

Mira H. Ghneim, MD, MPH, FACS, is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and an attending surgeon at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. She is fellowship trained in trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care. 

Dr. Ghneim completed her general surgery residency at Baylor Scott & White Health and her surgical critical care fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. She earned her Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health with a concentration in Aging and Public Health. She serves as Associate Program Director for the Surgical Critical Care and Acute Care Surgery fellowship programs. 

Her research focuses on clinical and outcomes research in trauma and emergency surgery, with an emphasis on geriatric trauma, traumatic brain injury, frailty, dementia, and neurologic recovery. She is particularly interested in patient-centered and goal-concordant outcomes, care trajectories after injury, and the application of rigorous epidemiologic and clinical research methods to improve the quality of trauma care for older adults.
