Shailvi Gupta

Bio

Shailvi Gupta, MD, MPH, FACS, is an Associate Professor of Surgery and a practicing trauma, acute care surgeon , and surgical critical care physician at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.  Dr. Gupta completed her general surgery residency at the University of San Francisco, California East Bay program in 2017 and her surgical critical care fellowship at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in 2018.  Dr. Gupta received her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in 2014.   

Since being on faculty at the University of Maryland since 2018, Dr. Gupta has been deeply involved in education.  Dr. Gupta created and is the Course Director for the Global Health Elective at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and is the Course Director for a SOM MPH course, “Global Public Health Emergencies.” Dr. Gupta has received three IPEC grants to foster interdisciplinary education on the UMB Campus. Dr. Gupta is deeply involved in the global health endeavors at UMB and received the President’s Global Impact Fund for “Building Trauma Capacity in Burkina Faso” with her colleagues, Dr. Yves Sanou and Dr. Hannah Wild. Dr. Gupta has over 80 peer-reviewed publications focused on global trauma care and the clinical aspects of trauma and emergency general surgery.
