Dr. Dean is the Interim Chief in the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. She has been working in the field of forensic medicine for more than 10 years. Dr. Dean is an American Board certified forensic pathologist with specialty in asphyxia related deaths. She has trained many forensic fellows, pathology residents, and pathology assistants. She has conducted more than 3000 forensic autopsies and has qualified numerous times as a forensic expert, testifying in the state and federal courts of the United States.Currently, Dr. Dean is the Co-director of the Master's Program in Forensic Medicine. She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine.
