Professor Jones Carney developed the MS in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Leadership with the intention of creating a program that challenged students to critically examine themselves and the ideals that they hold about others while developing intercultural skills to work across cultural difference. In addition to serving as Program Director, Prof. Jones Carney is the Director of the new Intercultural Center at UMB, and Director of Interprofessional Student Learning & Service Initiatives at UMB. This small office has a huge impact, offering an average of 150 annual programs, trainings and seminars focused on leadership development, identity and intersectionality, inclusion, and equity. Prof. Jones Carney is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in public administration at the University of Baltimore. Her studies focus on the impact of racial and ethnic microaggressions on employee engagement among people of color.
