Bio

Dr. Cestone is the Assistant Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs and an Associate Professor in the Graduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She also served as the inaugural Executive Director of UMB's Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning, established in 2019. Dr. Cestone received her PhD in educational psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, where she conducted research on faculty learning communities, instructional methods, and interprofessional education. Dr. Cestone holds a master's degree in human and organizational learning from the George Washington University. She spent nine years in basic science and medical education and served as associate dean of assessment and evaluation for Drexel University, College of Medicine. Dr. Cestone has led a variety of initiatives in graduate and professional education and professional development. Her research interests are in program evaluation, assessment, and curriculum and instructional design involving active learning methods. Dr. Cestone is active in the American Educational Research Association, serving as past Secretary for Division I, Education in the Professions.
