Estimated Costs, Scholarship, and Other Financial Support
Estimated Cost
In Japan, students will be housed in hotels. Local transport will consist almost entirely of public transit predominately on the rail system. The cost for students is approximately $4400, depending on the costs of flights and lodging. Tuition and fees are extra.
Scholarships Available
We are happy to report that UMB students selected to participate will receive a $2,000 scholarship to cover a portion of the costs associated with the trip. The scholarship is made available thanks to the generous support of the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) and the Geriatrics and Gerontology Education and Research Program (GGEAR) at UMB. UMB students are expected to self-fund the remaining $2400.
Selected UMBC students will be responsible for identifying alternative funding sources.
Financial Aid & Other Support
Speak to your financial aid counselor regarding having the self-funded expenses covered as part of your financial package. Speak to your advisor or program director to learn whether funding may be available through your academic program or school and how to apply.
