Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

Celebration - Thursday, May 16, 2024

Planning is underway to honor recent Summer 2023, Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 PhD graduates at an in-person ceremony. 

Who: PhD graduates, mentors and their invited guest information and ticket request here
What: Introduction and Hooding of PhD graduates. 
Where: Leadership Hall, Medical School Teaching Facility (MSTF)
When: Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. 

Graduates and Mentors should line up in MSTF Atrium at 3:15 pm, dressed in regalia. The Ceremony will take place from 4:00 - 8:00 pm followed by a reception.

Photographer: An official photographer will take pictures of the graduate with the mentor(s).

Mentors:  Submit introductions by May 1, 2024. Mentor instructions to come. 

MS and Certificate Ceremony

Celebration - Wednesday, May 15, 2024

Who: Masters and Certificate Graduates. Submit ticket request here.
When: Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. 
Where: Leadership Hall, Medical School Teaching Facility (MSTF)

Graduates should arrive at 1:15pm in MSTF Atrium.

During the month of March, students will receive the bill for their diploma and graduation fee. Students should contact Student Accounting (6-2930) with any questions. Diplomas will not be released to students with outstanding balances. For an additional fee, hoods can be mailed internationally. Please contact gradinfo@umaryland.edu

If you have placed a confidentiality flag on your student account, your name will not appear in any Graduation materials including the Commencement Program, Doctoral Hooding Program, List of Award Recipients, etc. To remove your Confidentiality Flag before graduation, log-in to your SURFS account and make changes by April 1, 2024.

Approximately 2 weeks after the end of the semester, your degree will be posted on your transcript. 

CERTIFIED ELECTRONIC DIPLOMA (CeDiploma)

In addition to the printed diploma, UMB graduates are eligible to receive a digital copy of their diploma.

You will receive an email with a link to download your credential when it is available from our trusted partner, CeCredential Trust®. To request a new download link, use the CreCredential Trust® site to resend the link.

Students with an outstanding financial obligation will not receive their diploma/certificates.
