Hooding Ceremony

DMSc, MS and Certificate Ceremony

Celebration - Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 11:30am

Who: Masters and Certificate Graduates. Submit ticket request here by April 13, 2026. 
When: Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 11:30am
Where: Leadership Hall, Medical School Teaching Facility (MSTF)

Graduates should arrive at 11:00am in MSTF Atrium.  The nearest parking garage is the Penn Street Garage at the corner of West Pratt St & Penn St, Baltimore, MD 21201.

Student Regalia Orders
  • Online Orders: Students can purchase regalia through Oak Hall at: https://oakhallcg.com/pages/umbaltimore
    • PhD regalia- order black gown with royal blue chevrons and panels (hood provided by SGS at ceremony)
    • DMSc- order black gown with gold chevrons and panels, gold hood
    • MS regalia- order black gown; gold hood
    • Certificate regalia- wear the regalia of their highest degree, cord(s) will be provided by SGS at ceremony
  • Order Deadline:

    Online ordering for on campus pick up ends on April 1, 2026. Free shipping applies.

    Place your order online by April 17, 2026, to guarantee home shipping delivery. A $17.95 shipping fee applies for home delivery.

Faculty Regalia Orders

  • Rental Orders:  

    Faculty may rent academic regalia by emailing the bookstore manager, Allanah Cohen, at sm639@bncollege.com. 

    Include: 

    • Height, Weight, Degree type (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctorate, etc.) 
    • Institution where the degree was earned 

    Order Deadlines 

    • Ship to Store:  April 1 
    • Ship to Home:  April 17 

    Orders submitted by these dates are guaranteed for on-time delivery. Regalia will be available for pickup at the campus store in early May. 

    Custom Regalia: 

    Custom regalia orders require 6 to 8 weeks for production. For pricing and details, contact Allanah Cohen at sm639@bncollege.com. 

During the month of March, students will receive the bill for their diploma and graduation fee. Students should contact Student Accounting (6-2930) with any questions. Diplomas will not be released to students with outstanding balances. For an additional fee, hoods can be mailed internationally. Please contact gradinfo@umaryland.edu

If you have placed a confidentiality flag on your student account, your name will not appear in any Graduation materials including the Commencement Program, Doctoral Hooding Program, List of Award Recipients, etc. To remove your Confidentiality Flag before graduation, log-in to your SURFS account and make changes by April 1, 2026.

Approximately 2 weeks after the end of the semester, your degree will be posted on your transcript.

Doctoral Hooding Ceremony

Celebration - Wednesday, May 20, 2026

Who: PhD graduates, mentors and their invited guest information and ticket request here by April 13, 2026. 
What: Introduction and Hooding of PhD graduates. 
Where: Leadership Hall, Medical School Teaching Facility (MSTF)
When: Wednesday, May 20, 2026, 4 p.m.

Parking:  The nearest parking garage is the Penn Street Garage at the corner of West Pratt St & Penn St, Baltimore, MD 21201.  Click here for a campus map. Photographer: An official photographer will take pictures of the graduate with the mentor(s).

Graduates and Mentors should line up in MSTF Atrium at 3:15pm, dressed in regalia. The Ceremony will take place from 4pm followed by a reception.
