2017-2018 NOVA Officers
Introducing the 2017-2018 Neuroscience Outreach and Volunteer Association (NOVA) Officers.
Welcome to another year of giving back to the Baltimore community with NOVA! We are pleased to announce the new incoming officers here to serve NOVA for this academic year.
President – Kasey Girven
Kasey is a 3rd year graduate student in the Program in Neuroscience researching the brain circuitry involved in cue-induced reward seeking. Her goal for NOVA this year is to expand the graduate student base that represents NOVA and increase member participation for NOVA sponsored events.
Vice President – Samuel Bacharach
Sam is a 2nd year graduate student in the Program in Neuroscience and studies reward learning and addiction. He volunteers with NOVA in order to share his passion for scientific discovery with people who might not otherwise be exposed to it.
Secretary – Kellie Sullivan
Kellie is a fourth semester graduate student in the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) program at the School of Nursing. Kellie graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in medical technology.
Treasurer & Monthly BINGO Chair – Quinton Banks
Quinton Banks is a fourth year graduate student in the Program in Neuroscience. He has been a member of NOVA since the beginning of his graduate school career, and is integral to the success of our monthly BINGO night events held at Spring Grove Psychiatric Hospital.
Brain Awareness Week Chair – Kara Cover
Kara Cover is a third year student in the Program of Neuroscience. As BAW Chair, Kara organizes UMB's participation in Brain Awareness Week, a national neuroscience education campaign sponsored by the Dana Foundation. UMB students and faculty visit Baltimore City schools to introduce neuroscience research through interactive demonstrations every March. It is truly a rewarding experience to foster excitement and wonder about the brain in our community's younger members.
