UMB Book Club
Are you a bookworm? Or, like many, did your new years resolutions include reading more? Perhaps you are just looking for a casual group to talk about the latest lit with? Well you’re in luck – 2015 brings the inauguration of the UMB Book Club on February 11, in the SMC Campus Center Room 307. Organized by the UMB Writing Center, the book club will meet once a month to discuss self-chosen books. Anyone is free to join, and the book selection will be completely member-driven. Coordinator Clancy Clawson describes how the book-picking system will work: “Participants will decide on the books they want to read each month…we’re not going to be snobby about the books the group selects. However, we will discuss whatever we read in an entertaining and enlightening way.” He also stresses that the goal is to make the book club fun, so it will hopefully serve as a brief interlude from work associated with graduate school. Interested in joining? Show up to the meetings on February 11, March 11, and April 15 from 5-6 p.m. or contact Clancy Clawson for more information.
