Deadlines and Forms for Fall 2008 M.S. (Thesis) Candidates

As a graduate student at the University of Maryland, it is your responsibility to obtain the appropriate signatures and submit by the deadline dates all forms required for graduation. Forms are available online (see Graduate Student Progression) and from Gayeann Day in the Graduate School (110 S. Paca Street, fourth floor, 6-4626).

April

  • Fall registration begins

Aug. 22

  • Registration ends

Aug. 25

  • Fall session begins

Sept. 1

  • Labor Day

Sept. 2

  • Last day to Add a course

Sept. 10

  • Last day to submit the "Application for Diploma" form to Gayeann Day, 110 S. Paca Street, fourth floor. Login to SURFS (Student UseR Friendly System) for form.
  • Last day to submit the "Fulfillment of Course Requirements for Master's Degree" form to Gayeann Day, unless you are in nursing. Nursing students must submit their forms to the registration office in the School of Nursing, room 108.

Oct. 24

  • Last day to Drop a course

Six Months Prior To Defense

  • Bring the "Nomination of Members for Final Masters Examining Committee" form to Graduate School. 

Two Weeks Prior to Defense

  • Bring Certification of "Completion of Masters Thesis" form to Graduate Enrollment Affairs. "Guidelines and Report of Examining Committee" forms will be sent to the Representative for the Dean.

Within Two Working Days of Oral Defense

  • The Representative for Dean returns the completed "Report of Examining Committee" form to the Graduate School.

Nov. 19

  • The Final day to turn in the "Certification of Completion of Masters Thesis" form.

Nov. 27 and Nov 28

  • Thanksgiving Day holiday

Dec. 12

  • Completed thesis due; one unbound original must be delivered to the Graduate School.

Dec.  23

  • Fall session ends
  • Diploma Date
